Downing Aviation Associates Names Bill
Maxey Marketing and Technical Associate
Phoenix, AZ---Downing Aviation Associates (DAA ), a Phoenix, Arizona-based aerospace consulting firm, has announced that Bill Maxey has joined the firm as Marketing and Technical Associate. A 1972 graduate of the University of Texas with a degree in Aerospace Engineering, Maxey’s resume includes extensive experience with both engine and airframe manufacturers in a variety of engineering, marketing and management roles. “Bill brings a unique and valuable perspective to DAA, having led many domestic aircraft certification efforts and served as the primary liaison between engine manufacturers and several major aircraft customers,” explained Darrel Downing, CEO of DAA. “Bill has dealt with technical and business development issues on both sides of the airframe/powerplant and systems relationship. That means he can bring well-founded and fact-based insights and counsel to our clients. We’re extremely happy to have someone with his broad range of expertise join us,” Downing added. A native of Lufkin, Texas, Maxey began his aerospace career at LTV Aerospace in Grand Prairie, Texas while still an undergraduate student at UT-Arlington. He moved to Mitsubishi Aircraft Company in San Angelo in 1973, where he served as Chief Powerplant and Systems Engineer and Federal Aviation Administration Designated Engineering Representative (DER). He led the U.S. domestic certification program for the Japanese-designed aircraft, successfully completing the process in 1976. In 1977, he moved to the Garrett AiResearch Corporation’s Phoenix, Arizona engine division, holding a variety of engineering, project management, and sales roles at Garrett and its successor companies, AlliedSignal and Honeywell, over the next 26 years. For the past four years, Maxey has served as an independent aerospace consultant. Established in 2001, DAA specializes in providing focused consulting and contract services for Business and Regional Aviation clients. It offers experienced technical, marketing, business and contract management resources to both startup and established aviation firms. DAA is committed to helping clients explore their options, define and grow their businesses and maximize their value—without incurring premature or unnecessary personnel and administrative costs. |
